| Here's
one I took when I was a kid about 1947. It's the lone
pine tree that looked down on Baker before a fire took
it down a number of years ago. |
 |
| Baker at reservoir hill. A man who
worked for California Pacific Utilities and lived
on Spring Garden St. 1st house on the right. He built
this star and ran a power line from his house to the
star and lit the bulbs which I believe were blue at
Christmas time. |

| Fourth of
July parade way back - probably late 40's. Corner
building where the bank presently is located on Main
across from Geiser Grand |

Fourth of
July parade about 1948. Walt Gildersleeve on Big Red.
I was taking it of him and
got a few other folks in the photo (Walt is George's
father) |

| This was
flood of 1965. Byron Henry made a heroic rescue of a
young boy who was swept down the Powder River past this
point where Byron went in after him to save his life,

| Delbert
Gildersleeve was my uncle. Here he is as a young guy at
the Gildersleeve ranch out of Washtucna, Washington
early probably about 1922 here. He bought the ranch on
Wingville Road, Baker County, which has or had the
classic barn often called the Gildersleeve barn. |
