ROWLEY posted by Sherry Kaseberg on Friday, July 10, 1998

On a basalt canyon wall north of Moro in Sherman County, Oregon is the following inscription: "C.M. ROWLEY / Sept. 29, 1975 / WELL" Who is C.M. ROWLEY? What was he doing here? The 1870 Polk County and 1880 Umatilla Co., Oregon censuses show a Charles Rowley. An unidentified news article noted in October 1897 that Uncle Charley ROWLEY was near death, a resident of Weston since it became a town.

FULKERSON, HARRIS, RANIER, RENIER, REYNIER posted by Bob Fulkerson on Monday, July 20, 1998

Looking for information on a RANIER family who possibly lived in the region from Umatilla County to The Dalles about 1830-1850. Husband, first name unknown, was probably a trapper for Hudson Bay or other fur company, and may have been a Canadian Iroquois Indian. Wife, name unknown, was probably a Umatilla Indian. Daughter Lizette RANIER was born about 1830. She met and left with Thomas HARRIS in same northeast Oregon region in spring 1851 while he was on a purchasing expedition from Fort Owen, Montana. Two other chidren, Charles and Tom, born 1848 and 1850, also had the surname RANIER. There is a legend in the HARRIS family that Lizette's father was shot in his tent. Charles and Tom were being raised by Lizette at Fort Owen in 1860 (census). Any help in tracing the RANIER ancestors or descendants would be appreciated. Further details on Tom HARRIS and Lizette RANIER may be found at http://wavecom.net/~fulker/1-harris.html Wyoming FULKERSON Homepage

I haven't been able to find records of him after that. He was born 1879 in England and came to the US in 1891. In Pendleton, he lived at 608 Johnson Street, with his wife Dorothy GORNALL and their 2 daughters, Bernice and Lois GORNALL. Can anyone send info on him or the church that he was Pastor of?
