De Borde Home, Union County, Oregon

Home at the Foot of the Hill

"Home on the farm
In the path of sun and flowers,
Where mourn with her grandeur thrills
And the sun, wind and flowers.

Our home at the foot of the hill,
'Mid murmuring lofty tree tops
With the blue skies above,
Home to live, toil and love."

(Composed by Harold's mother, in memory of their above home, which was the original Wright place, Cove, Oregon.  His parents bought it in 1906 and he lived there until he was grown.)

Home on The Hill ~ Charles Roy De Borde

"My thoughts wander back to the farm
To the cows and chicken with all their charms
And the ducks that come quacking
Each Morning at dawn.
They walked and stalked and circled around
and spilled the garbage all over the lawn.

I should like to go back to the farm
Where I can hear cows beller
Sort of satisfies a feller.
Where the fields of golden grain
Glow and glisten in the rain
And hear on the midnight air
The tinkling of a cow bell somewhere."

Composed by Harold's mother, in memory of the above home which they built when he was
8 months old, 1902, Cove, Oregon
