BOWEN, I. B. Came to Baker area in 1862. He operated the first steam-driven sawmill at Auburn. He owned the first hotel in Auburn. He owned a store at Sparta and engineered and started Sparta Ditch. He owned the old Cosmopolitan Hotel at Baker.  Living descendants in Baker County are:
